Direct Sales Recruiting

Passive direct sales recruiting is nowhere near as successful as active direct sales recruiting. If I see a banner that invites me to join a company, and I sit down and talk to someone about the opportunity, who do you think I will sign up with?

That is precisely why The Recruiting Connection is so successful. It brings the recruiter together with the potential recruit and provides a vehicle for real-time personal communication.  Here are some additional tips on direct sales recruiting:

11 Tips for Direct Sales Recruiting

  1. Don't overlook good recruits for "perfect" ones.

  2. Tell everyone about your business, if they are interested, tell them more. If they aren't interested move on.

  3. Look for outgoing people - they are the ones that are going to enjoy telling others about their awesome business!

  4. Listen to what people are looking for and tell them about the part of the business that fits what they want. If they want to make money, don't emphasize the recognition.

  5. When you see a quality in a recruit that makes them good for your business, tell them about it! Don't be shy.

  6. Help your recruit see the opportunity as a job with benefits.

  7. Don't overlook people who already have a job (or belong to another direct sales company) they may be your best prospect.

  8. Look for people who ask tons of questions - make sure you follow up with them.

  9. Look for the people who already love the product you are selling.

  10. Get involved in an online community where people can get to know you. Most people are more comfortable working with someone they "know" than a total stranger.

  11. Spend your energy recruiting where you have been most successful. If you have recruited 5 people from online chat and you've only recruited 1 relative, spend your energy recruiting online not talking to Aunt Matilda.

Top 5 Mistakes in Direct Sales Recruiting

  1. NOT talking to people. If you are afraid of talking to people (especially about your product) you will not recruit others to do what you do. One way to overcome a fear of talking to people is to do it virtually - in The Recruiting Connection Chat Room.

  2. Focusing on yourself rather than the potential recruit. Seek to find out what the company can offer your potential recruit and focus your time there - not on what YOU got out of it.

  3. Spending too much time talking to people who aren't interested in being recruited. You only have so many hours in a day, don't waste them on someone who is just going to raise objections. Find someone who is interested in your opportunity and invest your time wisely.

  4. Talking too much. You want to find out about the potential recruit and how the opportunity will benefit THEM. You aren't going to be able to do that until you get to know them. Ask questions and let them talk. BE QUIET!

  5. Recruiting people who aren't interested. I belong to a direct sales cosmetic company that shall remain nameless. We were taught to overcome objections and just "get them to sign up". Guess what happened with the recruits I "got to sign up" who weren't really interested in the opportunity? NOTHING! You will know after talking to someone once whether they are really interested. Do their eyes light up? Are they talking about what they can do with the business before you even tell them about the possibilities? Hang on to them - they are going to be your shooting stars! That is one of the biggest benefits of The Recruiting Connection - the people you talk to here are definitely interested in being recruited!
